IZLOZBA CENTARThis was my semester long “Mini-Thesis” project. The project was about creating a car exhibition space that welcomes social interaction through the car and driving experience.
This proposal would be located at 800S and State St. (Former Sears location)
The use of car ramps is to allow drivers to push their cars before showing it off in a large open showroom. There is a gas station, car wash, and cafe along the car ramps which is meant to introduce typical car culture interests: maintaining, cleaning, interacting, and driving.
PROSTOR HOUSING COMPLEXThis was a semester long project about designing housing for H-2A workers in the Ogden area. The project started with a site visit to Marriott-Slaterville to explore the area. I then did research on traditional H-2A housing requirements and found them to be ruthless. My goal was to design something with plenty of space and comfort for the workers.
I focused on creating a twist program which encourages private and public spaces. This would allow the workers to have their own private living area, with the option to interact with other people when they leave their apartments.
The building is ~40,000 square feet, and there is a total of 4 buildings on site. In the end, this project was presented in front of the community in Ogden.
CASA BURGEL REVIT RECREATIONThis project was part of the Intermediate ARCH 4040 Revit course. I was tasked to choose a 5,000 square feet building to model in Revit. I found the original plan, elevation, and section drawings which helped me model the building. Once the modeling was done, I moved to Twinmotion to render the building.
PROVIDNO WATER EDUCATION CENTERThis was a semester long project for ARCH 3011. We were tasked with designing a water education center on the Hudson River, Pier 66, in New York City. The idea for my building came from the golden section rectangle, and I was heavily inspired from buildings done by Mies Van Der Rohe. Everything was planned using a grid system which ensures a solid structure and consistent design language.
The following is my proposed building. The use of glass respects the views of the Hudson River. The use of steel and concrete makes it suitable for harsh waterfront environments. This material can be sourced locally due to the industrial area nearby. The materials used for my building reflect the maritime and infrastructural history of the NYC waterfront.
PROGRAM METHOD: BODEGA 2.0Fall 2024
This project builds upon the previous Historical Method project. Using the same site from that project, we were tasked with creating a new and modern bodega. We were provided with square footage requirements which helped shape the building design.
I knew right off the bat that I wanted to create an employee-centric building. I wanted the employees to have my attention. My building design started with quick bubble diagrams, which then led to programming diagrams.
The floor plan was where I was able to show my intentions the best. I created the floor plan to allow each employee to have the smoothest path to get their work done. The manager of the Bodega is also included in this design.
I made massing models that built upon the arrangements I made with my diagrams and floor plan. I then started my elevation, plan, section, and detail drawings. I then created renderings of the building's interior and exterior. This helped give life to the entire project.
This project was presented in front of the ARCH 3010 Cohort, architects, and professors at the University of Utah School of Architecture. The project was given an A.
GREAT SALT LAKE BATHS: TOPLI IZVORThis project started with a site visit to the Great Salt Lake. We were asked to sketch and photograph the area during the visit. While I was doing this, I started studying the slope of the site. This allowed me to get an understanding of how my building(s) should be designed.
Once we returned from the site, we worked on collages to study the history of the Great Salt Lake. I also made quick 2D studies to figure out the shape I wanted my design to take. I eventually came to a rounded rectangle, which is seen right below.
I knew that I needed to have certain square footage requirements, so I played with different building layouts. I went with three buildings on site. One being the washrooms, the other being the check-in, and the last one being a cafe.
I modeled each building in SketchUp and Rhino, which allowed me to get my elevations, plans, and sections. I went into Illustrator to clean everything up and started working on my renderings. Which were done in Vray.
Once all of the drawings were finalized I moved to the massing model. The massing also includes the site, which was modeled out of foam core, just like the buildings. The large model is 1/8" scale and the smaller one, which was 3D printed, is 1/16" scale.
This project was formally presented before the ARCH 2634 studio section, alongside former deans, current professors, and employed architects. The project was well received and was given an A.
SITE RESEARCH & PRECEDENT STUDIESThis exercise consisted of a site model and drawings. It was a two-week group project. I was part of the model-making crew alongside one other group member.
The model is made out of chipboard and has some wooden elements. The topography was found on CADmapper and was further edited using Rhino. The entire model ended up being 24" x 30."
The site model will be used later in the semester to test different massing ideas.
HISTORICAL METHOD: MODEL OF AN EXISTING BODEGAFall 2024
This group project had us visit a predetermined bodega located at 802 S 900 W. My group documented the building and measured everything to get accurate plans and elevations later.
I modeled the building in SketchUp to get a sense of scale and accuracy. Using this model I was able to create my elevation, plan, and section drawings. Meanwhile, my group started to create a massing of the bodega. I contributed by constructing the small detailed elements of the building. The photos of all these creations are seen below.
A final board from each group member was created and displayed at the final review. This was a walk-around exhibit. The project was well received by the jury and was given an A.

WATER RESEARCH & FEATURE: "DEPTH"This was a short, two-week, group project that included researching two characteristics of water and designing a water feature that resembles those characteristics.
My group researched the mysteries of water and duality. We thought it was interesting how mysterious water could be. The deeper you go, the more confusion there is. The duality of water could benefit and hurt the same society. These two areas of research started to drive our water feature.
The water feature we came up with is called "Depth." This feature has two pools balanced on wooden stilts. The reflecting pools use mirrors to create the illusion of depth. This goes back to the mystery of water and depth. This gives the person interacting with the feature the feeling of unknown and confusion. The materials that show rust or decay, remind us how water could also harm, which goes back to our duality research. Project was given an A.

ETHNOGRAPHY METHOD: ZERO WASTE KITCHENThis project had us visit family members or friends and interview them about their kitchens. We wanted to try and find any possible problems they might have had with their trash/recycling situation.
I interviewed my cousin, she had a problem with the convenience of recycling in her parent's home. Anytime she wanted to recycle, she would have to go outside and throw the item away in the large bin. She claimed that her family would recycle more if it was more convenient.
Seen below are drawings and photographs of the informant's kitchen In order to get a baseline. The entire kitchen was modeled out in SketchUp, and the drawings were done in AutoCAD.
Moving forward with a design solution, I thought of a chute that would live in the current pantry. This wouldn't take up any space in the kitchen which was a good thing since the kitchen is small. This "chute" allowed the informant to throw their recyclable items into a bin, without having to leave the home. To achieve this, a small shed would be constructed outside to store the bins and protect them from the elements.
This project taught me that people want what's most convenient for them. Sometimes the best design is the one that has the "informant" doing less. This project was presented in front of the entire ARCH 3011 Cohort, alongside multiple professors. It was received well and was given an A.
PRECEDENT STUDY: CIRCULAR PAVILIONSpring 2024
This was a group project that began with research on the Circular Pavilion. This was a temporary studio space located in Paris, and it didn't stand for long. There was limited information about the construction and assembly. The facade uses reclaimed doors from the HBM building in Paris.
To get elevation drawings, the building first had to be modeled out in SketchUp. I needed to use reference images to get an idea of the construction. This process took the longest, multiple iterations were created to try and best match the original building.
Once we had accurate elevation drawings, we focused on creating an accurate detailed model. We chose to recreate the section where the doors meet the roof. More images of this model are shown below. There is also a skylight in this section which was also recreated in the model. This project was presented in front of the entire ARCH 2634 section and was received well. The project was given an A.

FARNSWORTH GUEST MUSEUMFall 2023
This project builds upon the Case Study of the Farnsworth House. I was tasked to design a guest house, or in my case, a guest museum.
I wanted to create a "mini Farnsworth House" with my design. Since no one lives in the Farnsworth House, I wanted to make a space to store some of the artifacts and drawings. To do this, I focused on creating a square grid, I then added some of the notable features seen on the Farnsworth House like, posts, a terrace, large windows, and thin mullions.
Due to possible sunlight damage that the drawings could suffer from, I decided to create a large overhang that would protect the items inside. The location of the Guest Museum will be further north on the original Farnsworth site plan. There are large trees in this area that will also help protect the items inside.
Once inside, there will be a large table to hold original plans, there will also be 5 small pedestals that will showcase other details such as beam joinery.
This building is an open environment that favors human interaction. This is why there is a large terrace, it's a large space for socializing.
This project was greatly received and was given an A.
CASE STUDY: FARNSWORTH HOUSEThis was a case study of the Farnsworth House. This project started with research on the design and inspiration for the house.
Once I finished the research I moved on to making drawings of the house based on the measurements and documents I found online. The drawings below belong to me, they are based on the real drawings.
Lastly, I made a detailed model of the notorious I-beam, which is seen throughout the building. The model is made out of laminated basswood sheets.
This project was presented in front of a panel of architects, professors, and students. It was well received and given an A.
3D COMPOSITION & MATERIAL EXPLORATIONThis project consisted of making three identical models. However, each model was made from a different material. First, a composition model was made out of paper, the second model was made from walnut and zebrawood. Lastly, the third model was made from plaster. Hand drawings were done for each model.
