Fall 2023 This project builds upon the Case Study of the Farnsworth House. I was tasked to design a guest house, or in my case, a guest museum. I wanted to create a "mini Farnsworth House" with my design. Since no one lives in the Farnsworth House, I wanted to make a space to store some of the artifacts and drawings. To do this, I focused on creating a square grid, I then added some of the notable features seen on the Farnsworth House like, posts, a terrace, large windows, and thin mullions. Due to possible sunlight damage that the drawings could suffer from, I decided to create a large overhang that would protect the items inside. The location of the Guest Museum will be further north on the original Farnsworth site plan. There are large trees in this area that will also help protect the items inside. Once inside, there will be a large table to hold original plans, there will also be 5 small pedestals that will showcase other details such as beam joinery. This building is an open environment that favors human interaction. This is why there is a large terrace, it's a large space for socializing. This project was greatly received and was given an A.
