We learned about the basics of adaptive interventions during our field trips and lectures. We were learning about restoration, reproduction, and reconstruction. Also, the research from the likes of John Ruskin and Villoet Le-Duc. During these lectures and field trips, we had to show our research in these analytical postcard drawings.
In spatial analysis, particularly about architectural elements. It highlights the use of the term to describe the succession of planes or spatial sequences within a space. The example of a room is discussed, emphasizing the layers created by architectural features like door-like openings, buttresses, and fireplace blocks. Franco Fonatti's interpretation extends the concept to the facade, associating spatial layers with creating depth and perspective. The text also touches upon material stratification, drawing parallels with geological layers, and mentions intentional construction resolution, where building components are divided into distinct elements for different functions.
The perpetual prioritization of newness-value over age-value in historical relationships. The perspective on history constantly evolves, shaped by the artistic will or kunstwollen. Artistic value inherently conflicts with age value when viewed through kunstwollen, emphasizing a continual emphasis on constant newness value. The overarching theme is the relativity inherent in historical relationships, where value evaluation is dynamic and subject to changing perspectives.
The diamond shape symbolizes life cycles, while the quilt pattern represents a nurturing community. The design intentionally contrasts with traditional monuments dedicated to "great men," offering a counterpoint to hero worship through embracing and community-focused elements.
In 1961, Boston embarked on a mission to create a modern city. Town Hall is in the city's heart and has a history of 330 years. The standard architect selection process location, Mayor John F. Collins, Re-leases Statewide Draft First Contest for American City Hall San Francisco in 1906. The final stage of presentation drawings for the east facade shows how light and shadow are created. Form a bolder particular civic space than the administrative space mentioned above. The dark horizontal band represents the platform planned to span Congress Street as the competition requires. This comprehensive platform provided the main entrance to the Town Hall from the east and its three other entrances.
