The "Seaside House" project is part of the second-year design studio project, second semester, par of CASA Competition. One working sites were provided, as the project title suggests, at sea in Constanța. My clients were a family of artist.
The concept of my house originates from the profound observation of the awe-inspiring seascape, which captivates one's senses—a representation of humanity's desire to encompass all, to possess an unobstructed vista before their eyes, a vista that extends into an seemingly boundless void. Guided by an awareness of these elements, I embarked on the creation of a facade adorned with expansive vistas of the sea and the beach, all the while preserving the sanctity of familial intimacy.
Given the envisioned family scenario, a painting studio has been integrated as an ancillary function, tailored for the artist mother. This studio serves as a space for contemplation, an "art factory." The house spans two floors, with a secluded garden to the rear and an expansive verdant expanse facing the sea. The latter serves as a canvas for diverse family activities or private art exhibitions within the artist mother's circle of creative companions.
The ground floor seamlessly connects the living room and dining room, facilitated by a suspended floorboard, thereby establishing a vertical continuity between the two levels. The children's bedroom is also distributed across two levels, with access from both, fostering a shared space for the children, harmoniously integrating areas for rest, study, and play. The use of narrow hallways facilitates a transition to the spacious, welcoming, and comfortable living spaces.
