This project is a boutique hotel in Campbell River, BC, named Naturally Pacific. Home to the Campbell River Golf Club, this unique destination resort was intended to offers spectacular views and access to some of the best outdoor experiences in the world. Located at the crossroads of forest, mountain and the Pacific Ocean, Naturally Pacific’s 100-room resort features a luxury spa, upscale restaurant, 18-hole golf course with a virtual golf driving range and lounge. Project Budget - 30M$ Location - British Columbia, Canada
The placement of amenities was a topic of discussion amongst stakeholders as beyond the pool building, the view of golf course was quite appealing. Originally, the intent was to have a pool within the building as seen in most hotels, but the idea of using nana walls on a covered pool and exposed treated timber structure provided a better utilized space, which could be used during winter and summer. This created more space in the building leaving room for a grand sized restaurant.
The placement of amenities was a topic of discussion amongst stakeholders as beyond the pool building, the view of the golf course was quite appealing. Originally, the intent was to have a pool within the building as seen in most hotels, but the idea of using nana walls on a covered pool and exposed treated timber structure provided a better-utilized space, which could be used during winter and summer. This created more space in the building leaving room for a grand-sized restaurant. The project is mindfully designed to accommodate the needs for accessibility for specially-abled guests without compromising or changing any design elements.
The entrance is kept grand and separate from the restaurant in order to keep restaurant operable without disturbing the long term staying guests while providing access internally through a high ceiling corridor for users that allows them to experience the feeling of this luxurious design.
Building a hotel comes at no small cost. It was very important to design the spaces, choose the materials and coordinate the details with the owner and the subcontractors so that the design elements are achievable to construct with ease. To accentuate and preserve the standard design of the company, the columns were designed to have stone cladding and it merged midway with timber to meet the structural requirements.
