DESIGN CONCEPT The design is made to inherit the qualities and ambiance that make Filipino architecture stands out, “Maaliwalas” is a passive design. In response to the challenge of containing the sound of the interior within and the unwanted sounds of the outdoor environment outside, various design techniques from “Bahay na Bato” were incorporated.
STRUCTURAL CONCEPT The structural concept combines columnar, trabeated, and arch structural design. The outer members portray massive columns taken from the stilts structure of bahay kubo creating a "Silong" like environment. Combined with an arch structure located at the auditorium that requires a longer span of beams and therefore system capable of transferring vertical forces majority in the form of compression is advised. FACADE DESIGN Parametric design of Balayong flower gracefully flowing with the wind.
