EVENT CENTRE- M arch Thesis Project

Year: 2022

Category: Cultural Architecture

Skills: Revit, Photoshop, Lumion

The aim was to design a climate-responsive event center with all the essential amenities for holding events. The study area lacks the necessary infrastructure and facilities, such as theaters, multipurpose function spaces, conference spaces, and gallery exhibitions, hence the decline of the region's culture. The results of the findings revealed that poor ventilation and acoustics, poor security, and high theft rates deter residents from using existing event venues. Design Philosophy: Contextualism and Sustainable Architecture Design Theory: Biophillic design and ecological architecture Design Concept: Vernacular Architecture and Bioclimatic Design Form Formative Idea: Biomorphism

Thought Process

The palm tree was used to develop the form in context. Typically, people relax and enjoy shade under the palm tree (contextualism). To shield users from the elements of weather, the leaf's curvilinear shape was used as a roof. The principles of subtraction and addition were used to remove and add elements such as windows for ventilation and lighting.
