- ARCH201 Studio Project - Gresc is a library complex with a green focal point that slows down the city flow. It is designed for social sustainability and includes a café, multipurpose rooms, and an art gallery to enhance the library experience. The name "Gresc" is a combination of the words "green" and "escape". The inviting entrance on the main street serves as an art gallery leading to the foyer, which opens up to the backyard, connecting the library and café. The café is the socializing zone of the complex, opening up to both the main street and backyard.
The library's target audience is secondary and high school students who require study spaces and socialization opportunities. To create an environment where students can escape city stress and maintain focus, I designed a quiet and bright studying place. Active usage areas were designed to receive daylight, which was filtered by adding trees in front of the facade and eaves to the facade. The prevailing wind direction was considered, and the windward facade was made closed while adding trees in front of it.
Due to the steep land, a basement floor was added to hold the multipurpose room and technical zone. Another entrance was added from the southeast facade.
