BUILDING 1.0 | OPEN DESIGN ACADEMY
In the bustling heart of Vienna, near the Donau Canal, Building 1.0 offers our take on sustainability and adaptability through architecture. The whole structure is half temporary, reflecting the fast-paced, ever-changing world we live in.
The academy is like a "software" for buildings, as it can be quickly updated and adapted to fit educational, social, and urban evolving needs. The temporary section can be easily taken apart and rebuilt for different purposes, such as providing housing for refugees our hosting a summer festival when classes are not in session. Roof openings ensure that everything built under the public terrace will be ventilated and enlightened sufficiantly.
By breaking away from traditional, fixed architecture, Building 1.0 mirrors the flexibility and adaptability seen in modern technology. This design is our take on how architecture should evolve with the times.
We dont design a building that fits one need perfectly, we design every building all at once.
This project was part of the studio "Gebäudelehre" | Open Design Academy. We, Marlon Berger & August Eckmann, finished it in the fifth's semester of our Bachelor of Architecture.
