The Nest (2018)

Designing a bird-watching station necessitates a balance between creativity and practicality, as it involves transforming study models into functional spaces that cater to the needs of bird-watching enthusiasts. This project provided us with an opportunity to hone our problem-solving skills and gain a deeper understanding of the intricacies involved in designing a space that serves a specific purpose.

The Bend (2017)

The project involves designing a cenotaph, which is a memorial for someone whose physical remains are not present at the site. The proposed location for the cenotaph is a serene clearing of red mangroves along a hiking trail, providing visitors with a peaceful and scenic spot to honor the legacy of John James Audubon, the celebrated American painter, explorer, and scientist.

The design proposed for the Barnacle Park site in Miami, located along the coastline, successfully combines modern elements with the site's historic significance, creating a unique and compelling atmosphere. The integration of contemporary design features into this historical location adds a fresh and exciting perspective to the area's cultural heritage.

The design for the Barnacle Historic State Park project was inspired by the park's natural beauty and the small, pavilion-style structure. It incorporates natural materials such as wood and stone to match the existing architecture and environment. The form is informed by my passion for figure drawing, while features pay homage to the park's namesake building for a cohesive design.

The Barnacle (2016)

During our class visit to The Barnacle, I gained a valuable lesson in designing structures that are not only visually pleasing but also feasible in the physical world and in harmony with their surroundings. As architects, it's crucial to understand the contrast between the neat AutoCAD files we work with and the reality of the physical site. Our assignment was to recreate this historical site by accurately interpreting the plans provided by the city, which required us to develop our examination skills and gain a deeper understanding of topography in relation to existing and future architectural structures. I personally oversaw the construction of The Barnacle and coordinated the topography layers, which provided me with a valuable learning experience as a future architect.
