Toyo Ito's White U.

White U is a single-story concrete house with a U-shaped plan located in a residential area in Tokyo. Built in 1976 and demolished in 1997, once the residents moved away. An excellent demonstration of Toyo Ito's capability in the design of more spiritual, meditative architecture. The house not only closed off from the outside world, it embraces the insolation spatially and materially.

The windowless building is made of curved concrete. Forming a U-shaped plan that encompasses a courtyard within the U. Inside, floor, ceiling, and walls are all washed with white surfaces without any distinction.
