The Royal Albert Perfume Factory is a visionary proposal aimed at creating a landmark building within the London Enterprise Zone, revitalizing the historic Royal Docks. Once considered the largest enclosed docks in the world, Royal Albert Dock, named after Prince Albert by Queen Victoria, was the first to be completed in 1880.
Perfume, with its rich history in religion, culture, and fashion, has long been a valuable commodity. The UK, being one of the largest manufacturers of luxury perfumes, provides an ideal setting for a factory dedicated to this illustrious industry. The proposed factory will be situated on Royal Albert Island, located on the eastern portion of the docks, and will be accessible via two bridges, linking it to the Thames River.
This project aims to celebrate and elevate the perfume industry in the UK, drawing inspiration from the docks' flourishing past while fostering innovation and craftsmanship in perfumery. The design will blend historical significance with contemporary architecture, creating a hub that honors the legacy of the Royal Docks while positioning the UK at the forefront of the global perfume market.
