A remastered thesis project. Khorfakkan is a small yet very attractive place in the UAE. Not many tourists tend to visit it, this is why my intent was to create a solid community space in this particular area. The existing amenities in the city push the visitors to be very active, so my case was not an exception and my community space was logically transformed into a multi-discipline sports complex.
The project location has been chosen relying on the logic of connecting the city's anchor points, creating a healthy community flow deeper into the mountains away from the congested and heavily populated coastline. An enormous flow direction of residential and private sector's dwellers inside the city was re-oriented by choosing an appropriate site for the project to be developed at.
The project's goal was to connect people of all age groups together in a very comfortable and healthy environment. The flexibility in design allows the visitor to experience all kinds of physical activities, shown in the diagram below:
Designed in a strict modern neo-Greek style, the building offers classical outdoor facilities, such as a covered swimming pools and grand football stadium. These facilities were intentionally meant to have similarities with ancient Greek design solutions in plan.
