BIM Representation of Research Laboratory and Equipment

Year: 2022

Skills: Revit, AutoCAD

As part of my internship with Cambridge CARES, I created BIM representations of one of the centre's laboratories in CREATE Tower, Singapore, as well as a number of equipments within it. These models are done in Autodesk Revit and contribute towards CARES's The World Avatar project to create a knowledge-graph-based digital twin of the world.

The Revit model of the laboratory was done up using existing CAD plan drawings, and then integrated into a model of the CREATE Tower. The equipment were modelled as Revit families using information from hand measurements, photographs and equipments specifications found online. Some of the equipment families made include fume hoods, a refrigerator, a flammable cabinet, storage units, sink cabinets, and a "robot" comprising of various devices. Doors were also created based on existing door schedules and schematic drawings.
