The project aims to empower the Laksha community by humanizing their energy needs, making them a sustainable and independent community. The Laksha community is suffering a lot with production rates falling as they do not have the proper facilities to continue production during long power cuts. Most artisans have either moved back to using slow, primitive methods or have completely given up on the industry. We can solve this issue by humanizing their energy needs. They can use their own wood waste from production as fuel for a biomass energy generator and power up their lathes, sustaining them and making them independent of the local power grid. We have made energy in the community for the community.
Why such a form? When we look at Laksha from afar it seems like a totally normal and boring thing but if we take a closer look we start to realize the complexity, elegancy and impressiveness of the craft. Artisans spends time to put their utmost effort, their blood and sweat, into creating such a beautiful masterpiece. The building will reflect this through its form and spaces and become a pure embodiment of the craft through architecture. Its iconic form will definitely stand out and is asking to be looked at. It should be a shout out call for this dying community to be proud of their craft, and not give it up
