AN INVITING AND EXCLUSIVE DESTINATION FOR ALL - The proposed bus terminal design at Alor Setar is designed as one of Johor's key interchange stations serving high-speed inter-city lines, linked to KTM Komuter Alor Setar.
Designed as an urbanized public bridge connecting the communities on either side of the railway, the station is defined by the circulation routes of passengers, minimizing distance for those embarking and alighting at Alor Setar, as well as those passengers connecting to different train services. Responding to KTM Distribution (KTMD) Alor Setar, this facility houses a bus interchange, offices, and retail shop lots.
While creating a new hub of communities and transportation to Alor Setar, it allows the public housing to acquire the necessity nodes of transportation on upper floors on linking inter-city, inter-state buses and nearby KTM to complete Alor Setar as a whole.
The entry points to the Bus Station have been consolidated, and the main entrance hall was established to give spatial coherence to the building improving the sense of orientation and flow. There has also been a change of emphasis from prioritizing vehicle access, to a more contemporary arrangement that favors pedestrian access.
