A City Cloister
"It is necessary at once the projective vision of what above all is lacking in our big cities: silent, ample and dilated places to reflect, places with long and porticoed walks for bad weather or for when the sun is excessive, where no noise of vehicles or criers arrives; where a correct delicacy would veto even the prayer in loud voice to the priest." Friedrich Nietzsche
The project is located at the end of Carrer de la Marina, one of the most important axes of Barcelona, not only because of its transversality but because there are three of the few buildings in height of the city. That is why this must be a space that delivers the city to the sea with the dignity and power it deserves.
Starting from this premise, it has to be a space that speaks the language of the city. A regular and serene space that delivers Barcelona in a firm way to the existing chaos of the sea, the beach and the port. That is why I take the decision to place the building and the space that this one generates at the arrival level. Even so, this is not intended to be a point of tourist interest or crowded but a space where the individual relationship with the place prevails and where the community dimension is left in the background. A space where the social dimension can also have a spiritual dimension.
