The Challenge

Clothed Spaces explores the mountain tent as a primordial form of micro-architecture: lightweight, temporary, and in direct dialogue with the landscape—clothing nature without altering it.

The competition invites participants to design an innovative mountain tent conceived as a lightweight, temporary micro-architecture. Conceptual and experimental in nature, Clothed Spaces encourages bold and visionary proposals that rethink the tent beyond its role as a simple shelter. The focus lies on the relationship between form, function, materials, and geometry, with particular attention to fabric as an architectural skin that mediates between interior and exterior. Projects should explore themes of reversibility, minimal structural impact, ease of assembly, and adaptability, envisioning a habitable space for two people, expandable up to four.

As a geographical reference, the competition suggests the Julian Alps massif, located between Italy and Slovenia; however, participants are free to select any authentic natural context that enables an exploration of the relationship between temporary architecture and landscape.

The total prize fund is €3,000, awarded to the top three ranked projects. The international jury includes professionals from renowned studios such as Archea Associati, Zaha Hadid Architects, UNStudio, and Sou Fujimoto Architects.
