Discrete Joinery

Joinery of human and artificial intelligence Set in a tranquil landscape, the design draws from traditional Japanese timber joinery, reinterpreted through a discrete, Artificial Intelligence defined discrete joinery. This discrete system serves as a bridge between crafts and computation. A combinatorial design process —both artistic and artificial—assembling modular components into aggregated, functional structures. Design exploration centered on square and rectangular prisms, inspired by the geometric logic of Japanese timber architecture. These elements were multiplied, stacked, and composed into dense forms and spatial expressions. It is within this dialogue—between the art and the algorithm, redefining what it means to craft art.

Discrete joinery

The design is situated in the tranquil setting of the desert and draws inspiration from the traditional Japanese timber joinery. Reinterpret timber construction through a discrete system—computing and defined by artificial intelligence. The discrete system acts as an interface between these domains. To demonstrate its capabilities, propose a combinatorial design process both art and artificial, which assembles generic discrete components into functional, aggregated structures.

Tranquil

Design exploration followed a series of discrete design narratives, centered around a square and rectangular prism. From Japan timber architecture geometric logic, these elements were multiplied and stacked to create dense forms and expressive spatial configurations. It was this interplay between art and artificial that created the aesthetic and re-shaped the concept of crafting art. The discrete system acts as an interface between these domains.
