University of Waterloo
I studied at the University of Waterloo School of Architecture, and completed 3 years of work experience at Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), 3XN, Revery Architects, and Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA). My training as an architect has given me the opportunity to work effectively in teams, hone in on details without losing the sight of the big picture. I'm currently working as a content creator at Archi Hacks.
In recognition of the 60th anniversary of the University and the 150thanniversary of Canada’s confederation, the University of Waterloo hosted Celebration 2017, a legacy project that embodies the University of Waterloo’s reputation as a hub for innovation and celebrates Canada’s spirit of diversity and inclusion. Starting with conceptual pitch stage, every subsequent stage required more detailed and elaborated proposal than the previous. Each stage also involved meetings with experts and stakeholders relevant to the level of abstraction. The final deliberation process involved detailed budget analysis, lighting design, and construction phasing.

Borders carry immense historical, political, and cultural implications. At their most aggressive, borders materialize in the form of walls. One notable exception is the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). If the traditional border is a line, then the DMZ is a surface. This unoccupied stretch of land, up to 4km wide, separates two of the most heavily militarized borders in the world.Borders carry immense historical, political, and cultural implications. The end result of globalization is generic skylines with mundane urban experiences, concealing its rich cultural history. So, how can skyscrapers begin to express, appreciate, and restore the surrounding cultural context?
